Research Laboratory Tech Assoc

+ Provide for daily and postop care of large animals, mainly sheep and swine. Identify signs of illness in large animals and respond accordingly

+ Monitor animals under anesthesia and recovery

+ Communicate and make recommendations related to animal care and animal monitoring to other scientists on the team

+ Administrative duties as assigned

+ Train personnel in existing laboratory techniques and procedures, explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities, operation limitation and outcomes

+ Maintain laboratory inventory and research equipment

**Required Qualifications***

+ HS Diploma or Assoc Degree and 0-1 year experience required

+ Flexibility to work odd, late hours, or overnight shifts

+ Excellent multitasking skills

+ Ability to communicate clearly the results of his/her experiments to other team members

+ Proficiency is Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), with at least some familiarity with access and statistical analysis programs

+ Familiarity with basic laboratory instrumentation and maintenance of laboratory equipment

+ Proficient record keeping

+ Exceptional work ethic

**Desired Qualifications***

+ Experience working with large animals and/or farm animals

+ Veterinary technician or similar degree and/or training

+ Familiarity with University research administration policies and procedures

+ One or more years' experience as a full time research technician

+ Ability to train less-experienced students and technicians

+ Bachelor's Degree preferred.
