Research Laboratory Tech Sr
Responsibilities*

The selected candidate will conduct research in the laboratories of Drs. William Stacey and Jack Parent, who will be joint supervisors. We are seeking a laboratory technician with expertise in performing rodent surgeries and/or video/EEG monitoring for epilepsy research. The laboratories are part of the Departments of Neurology (Stacey and Parent) and Biomedical Engineering (Stacey).


As a technician in the lab, the applicant will be expected to perform stereotactic surgeries and maintain several in vivo rodent models of epilepsy. The applicant will also perform microinjections and microdialysis in awake, behaving animals, and analyze EEG and collected data using EEG software and Excel spreadsheets. In addition, the applicant will help maintain transgenic mouse colonies, assist with laboratory regulatory compliance issues, and assist with genotyping, and may be asked to supervise undergraduate students or help train graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in animal surgery techniques.


**Required Qualifications***


+ Bachelor's degree in related field


**Desired Qualifications***


+ At least 1-2 years of laboratory research experience, and experience working with live animal surgeries and stereotactic equipment or EEG.

+ Advanced training in the field of specialty appropriate to the research.

+ The candidate should have particularly strong computer science skills as well.

+ In addition, facility with electrical hardware is highly desirable.
