Part-time Non-Eligible employees are not part of the Oakland County Merit System. These positions are limited to 1,000 hours per calendar year and are not eligible for benefits. A closing notice may be posted when a sufficient number of applications have been received to meet current needs.
Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs duties requiring expert ability in one or more of the following structural, finishing or mechanical building crafts: carpentry, electrical, masonry, welding, plumbing/pipefitting, and/or heating, cooling and refrigeration or related craft fields. Performs the skilled and difficult repair, alteration and modernization work required in the maintenance of either Oakland County facilities and equipment or Park and Recreation buildings, facilities and pool mechanisms. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
Minimum Qualifications
At the time of application, applicants must:
1. Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test; **AND**
2. Have had at least four (4) years of full-time work experience in a position involving one or more of the following building, craft and/or mechanical fields: carpentry, electrical, masonry, plumbing-pipe fitting, welding, heating and air-conditioning/refrigeration.
3. Have a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.
4. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this class.
